From: Cali, Columbia. LA Opera: debut. She became Resident Conductor this season. About: In 2020, after winning the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Sir Georg Solti International Conducting Competition, she was named Solti Conducting Apprentice under the guidance of Riccardo Muti, continuing until 2023. Last season, she debuted with the LA Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, Chicago Symphony Orchestra (an acclaimed last-minute stand-in), New York Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony and Barcelona Symphony, among many others. She also conducted The Barber of Seville at the Dallas Opera. This season, she returns to the Seattle Symphony and debuts with the ensembles including the Orchestre Métropolitain (Montreal), Indianapolis Symphony, Pasadena Symphony and Philadelphia Opera, as well as performances at Caramoor and Grafenegg Festivals.

Simon Stone
Director
From: Basel, Switzerland.
LA Opera: debut.
About: Last season, he made his Metropolitan Opera debut with Lucia di Lammermoor and also directed Wozzeck at the Vienna State Opera and Penderecki’s The Devils of Loudun at the Bavarian State Opera. In 2007, he founded the Melbourne, Australia, theater group the Hayloft Project. In 2011, he became associate director at Sydney’s Belvoir St. Theatre. He was resident director of Theater Basel (2015-17). Opera productions include Tristan und Isolde and the world premiere of Kaija Saariaho’s Innocence in Aix-en-Provence, La Traviata at the Vienna State Opera and Paris Opera, Die tote Stadt at the Bavarian State Opera and Theater Basel, and Aribert Reimann’s Lear and Cherubini’s Médée at the Salzburg Festival. He wrote and directed the 2015 film The Daughter and the 2021 film The Dig with Carey Mulligan and Ralph Fiennes.

About: Her work in opera includes Lucia di Lammermoor (Metropolitan Opera), Jenůfa (Dutch National Opera); La Traviata (Theater Basel, English National Opera); Pelléas et Mélisande (Polish National Opera, Aix-en-Provence Festival); and Le Vin Herbé (Staatsoper Berlin). She co-founded the theater company Shunt in 1998. Her work has been seen on the West End and she has designed for the National Theatre (UK), the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, the Public Theater in New York, the Royal Court Theatre, the Donmar, Park Avenue Armory in New York, Young Vic, Lyric Hammersmith, Almeida, Manchester International Festival, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, the Burgtheater in Vienna, the Schauspiel in Cologne, the Crucible in Sheffield, and the Bristol Old Vic.

From: Valencia, Spain. LA Opera: debut. About: A designer of both sets and costumes, she comes from a background of fine arts, installation and video art. Before becoming a designer, she studied fine arts at Universitat Politècnica de València and at Hochshule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg. Her work in opera includes Lucia di Lammermoor for the Metropolitan Opera, Tristan und Isolde for the Festival Aix en Provence, Orpheus and Eurydice for the Lucerne Opera, Rigoletto for the Yekaterinburg Opera and George Enescu’s Oedipe for the Bucharest National Opera, as well as upcoming productions of Manon Lescaut for the Polish National Opera and The Merry Widow for Opern Haus Wuppertal. Her work in theater includes productions throughout Europe and for numerous stages in New York. She holds an MFA in design for stage and film from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

About: Last season’s engagements include Lucia di Lammermoor at the Metropolitan Opera, Handel’s Theodora at Covent Garden, Zemlinsky’s The Dwarf at Dutch National Opera, and Wozzeck and Monteverdi’s Orfeo at the Vienna State Opera. His previous collaborations with Simon Stone include Yerma at the Young Vic, Park Avenue Armory and Berlin’s Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz; the world premiere of Kaija Saariaho’s Innocence in Aix-en-Provence; and La Traviata at the Paris Opera and Vienna State Opera.  | Jeremy Frank Chorus Director From: Glendive, Montana. LA Opera: He became Chorus Director this season, after working on over 75 productions as associate chorus director and/or assistant conductor. He previously prepared the chorus for the Plácido Domingo 50th Anniversary Concert (2017) and The Clemency of Titus (2019). He is a coach for the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program. About: He has collaborated with major opera houses throughout the United States and has prepared operas and vocal chamber music at the LA Philharmonic. As a pianist, he has partnered with Sondra Radvanovsky, Eric Owens, Brandon Jovanovich, J’nai Bridges, Dolora Zajick, Kate Lindsey and Susan Graham. He helped prepare Seattle Opera’s Ring cycle in 2013. He has been a guest faculty member for young artist programs at Utah Opera and Seattle Opera, and he is a part-time lecturer in vocal arts and opera at the University of Southern California. He made his Broadway debut in 2017 with Miss Saigon, returning for Sea Wall / A Life, My Name Is Lucy Barton and West Side Story, for which he won a Drama Desk Award. He also received a Drama Desk nomination in 2019 for The Lehman Trilogy at Park Avenue Armory.
